主な研究課題
慢性炎症関連疾患を巧くコントロールする技術の創生
がんや動脈硬化を含む様々な加齢性疾患の基礎病態として、近年慢性炎症が注目を集めています。炎症反応は一種の生体防御応答であり、その惹起と収束という背反する2つのステージから成りますが、この両ステージの調節に中心的に関わる細胞がマクロファージです。一方で生体を構成する細胞の殆どは結合組織(細胞外マトリックス)への「然るべき細胞接着」を通じ、発現する細胞機能の正常性を維持しています。そこで加齢や病態の進行に伴う細胞外マトリックス環境の変化に注目し、これがマクロファージを含む種々病態構成細胞に異常をもたらす仕組みの解明と、これを標的として慢性炎症関連疾患を巧くコントロールする技術の創生を目指しています。
